Many couples have done it, and for some, it has ended badly. Starring in your own reality show isn’t always good for relationships. Just ask Jessica Simpson and a slew of other celebs who put their private lives on national TV and later divorced. But maybe things will be different for LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian, who will soon have their own VH1 reality show.
“We are really excited to be working together on a unique show that will give you a glimpse into who we really are, or better yet, who we’re really not,” said the Rimes in a news release.
Rimes and Cibrian have been tabloid targets thanks to Cibrian’s ex-wife, Brandi Glanville, who stars on Bravo’s “The Housewives of Beverly Hills,” where she has often publicly discussed frustrations about her ex-husband and his new wife.
Rimes Tweeted Thursday: “Thx for all the love about our new show. We are very excited to do something new and unique.”
Rimes, a Pearl native, who has won multiple Grammy Awards, has been in the spotlight since age 13 when she released the hit “Blue.” She has sold more than 40 million albums and scored 13 Top 10 hits. Her latest album “Spitfire” has been well-received by critics.
Cibrian started out in soaps, but won a role on the series “Third Watch.” Since then, he has starred in other series, including “Invasion,” “The Playboy Club,” “CSI Miami” and “Tilt,” among others. He’s also starred in the films “Living Out Loud,” “Good Deeds,” “But I’m A Cheerleader,” “The Cave,” and the upcoming movies “Single Moms Club” and “Best Man Holiday.”
According to VH1, the reality show will peer into the couple’s private world as a “normal modern family.” Both have careers and are learning how to co-parent Eddie’s two sons.
“They look forward to sharing a bit of their world and (will) poke fun at what it’s like to be a high-profile couple with more than a little misinformation out there about them,” VH1 said.
“LeAnn and Eddie are both talented entertainers who have really captured the public’s imagination in the last couple of years, but there is so much more to them than what you read in the tabloids,” said Tom Calderone, President of VH1, in a news release. “This is going to be a really fun show in which we hope to reveal what their lives are really like – from the normalcy of their home life, to what drives them artistically, to the chaos of their celebrity life.”
Gurney Productions, of “Duck Dynasty” fame, will produce the series that is tentatively titled “LeAnn and Eddie.” It’s set to premiere this fall with six episodes.
